How to make the little darlings eat their vegies!
This was a little snippet from an old CHC newsletter that I have passed on to lots of dog owners who are trying to change their pets over to the natural diet. Feedback has been really positive.
Acquire some chicken carcasses from your butcher and boil then up for approximately six hours on the stove.
Remove bones and skin and skim off the fat.
Freeze the resulting jelly into blocks (one half-cup-sized block serves two Golden Retrievers for one meal)
Prepare your raw pulverised veggies and heat up the chicken jelly. Mix. Irresistible!!
Sardine Cake For the Dogs
Ideal training treat and so easy to make
1 tin sardines in tomato sauce
2 eggs
garlic - 1 clove (optional )
350 g flour (use gluten free flour for gluten sensitive dog)
milk to mix
Mix the sardines, eggs, and garlic (you can use blender )
Add the flour then use as much milk as it takes to make it a runny cake.
Pour the mixture into a slice tin and bake in a moderate oven for about 20 -25 minutes.
It should resemble play-doh when it has cooled. Then cut into portions and freeze till needed for training.
The dogs will be forever grateful and it is easier to make than liver cake - less smelly too.
